Enjoy Dixon

Nate and I are both from Dixon and we're delighted that so many of you are going to be visiting our hometown during our wedding weekend! If you get to town early, we recommend the following sites.

Arthur's Garden Deli 1133 N. Galena Avenue
People who grow up in Dixon and move away make this their first stop when they return. The deli sandwiches are downright amazing. The bread is soft and warm and the ingredients are high-quality. I'm getting hungry as I type. I recommend the #3. In fact, you might see me eating one before I slip into my wedding gown!

Books on First 202 W. First Street
This independent book store stocks new releases alongside classics and the staff members are happy to make recommendations. This is also the best place in town to get coffee!

BBY Chicken and Carry Out 219 W. River Street
It's not fancy, but dang, it's good. When Mumford and Sons were in town last summer, they spent time cruising around in BBY's famous chicken car. I recommend the chicken strips and the fried pickles.

Crystal Cork 219 W. 1st St.
Hands down, this is my favorite place to hang out when I'm in Dixon. They have an amazing wine selection as well as an ever-increasing list of martinis. Just don't have too many martinis and miss the wedding!

Dixon Welcome Center 106 W. River St.
My mom frequently volunteers here, but I'm guessing she might be a bit busy the weekend you're in town! Stop by here with any questions about the area that you might have, and don't forget to pick up a bottle of Petunia Wine! While you're in the area, walk down by the river and check out the statue of Reagan on horseback.

Lowell Park  2114 Lowell Park Road
Yes, Ronald Reagan was a lifeguard at Lowell Park back in the day. The park is beautifully maintained and the colors should be great in October!

Touch of Thai 221 W. 1st St.
Recently remodeled, this place serves up amazing Thai cuisine and sushi. Order the sweet potato roll - you won't regret it!

Trein's Jewelry 201 W. 1st St.
Want to see where Nate (finally) bought my engagement ring? Feeling inspired to pick up something lovely and unique for the special woman in your life? Head to Trein's!

White Pines 6712 W. Pines Road (Mount Morris)
Located about 15 minutes outside of Dixon, White Pines State Park is filled with beautiful trails and creeks.
